Radiant in Rotary Blue was the theme colour for this auspicious occasion. Our club, the Rotary Club of Central Port of Spain, received its charter on August 1980 and we remember and rejoiced all August and celebrated our 45th anniversary on 6th September 2025 in fine style.

Members abroad missed good food, drinks, great music and our close Rotary friends, for who does not invite close friends and neighbors to celebrate their special anniversary. It was a wonderful occasion and ended past 9pm the official end with persons still grooving to the last of the music by Phil Cartar and Michael Philip who were to play from 7 pm to 9 pm but provided their sound system, music and their concert at 7 pm that we did not allow to end. Several couples {who shall be nameless}danced romantically to the music, while most moved to the rhythm in their seats until they could not help but get up and dance.
The highlight of the auspicious occasion was the speech by Assistant Governor of the North Clubs, Veronica De Souza-Philip. She exhorted us to continue to progress in our diverse, impactful work as a Rotary Club whose community development work stands out as a beacon for all other clubs to follow.

Past President and Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) Lennox Joseph Lewis gave us an informative introduction to his book THE HISTORY OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF CENTRAL POS.

All were impressed with the wealth of research that he had gathered and the detailed references, diagrams and pictures of out committees and projects. This book is certainly a keepsake for every Rotary member of RCCPOS and those to come. All members of RCCPOS were given a copy of this treasured book.

Forty-five years is a long time and we paid tribute to past members such as Honorary Rotarian George Alleyne, a proud charter member in 1980 and whose work in the Beetham we honored in the George F. Alleyne Library in 2017. PHF and Past President Percy holds the record for 7 years as the most jovial and thorough Sargeant of Arms. PHF and Past President Lara’s proudest moment is serving as District Governor from 2011 t0 2012 and PHF and Past President Rabindra’s was the 3 years he served as Assistant District Governor from 2015 to 2018. PHF and Past Presidents Colin and Anthony Jean Baptiste joined because of the sense of belonging and positive interaction with really interesting people and named us the Rotary University of Central POS.

Former, new and old members of RCCPOS, friends from the Rotary Clubs of POS West, Diego Martin, Maraval, St Augustine, Felicity- Charlieville, San Fernando South, Point-a-Pierre and San Juan danced in celebration of our 45th sapphire anniversary celebration to the guitars, old and new favorite songs with hugs and plans for our fellowship and continued service beneficial to all concerned.
