Chartered on January 21, 2005, the Rotaract Club of Central Port of Spain came to life under the wing of one of the country's most respected parent clubs. From the beginning, the vision was clear: build something that would stand for more than fundraisers and meetings. The club's motto at the time, "Exceeding Expectations," was not chosen lightly. It was a statement of intent, and over the years, that intent has been matched by action.

District 7030 itself is a remarkable space, stretching from the twin islands of St. Kitts and Nevis all the way down to Trinidad and Tobago, and across to Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. It is one of the most diverse Rotaract districts in the world, and Central POS has consistently held its own in that company. Being part of this district means competing and collaborating with clubs across 14 countries, and the club has never shied away from that challenge.

What has always made Central POS stand out is our commitment to developing young leaders, not just volunteers. The club's stated mission as "a unified team of young professionals forged with the purpose of enhancing leadership qualities and alliance, leaving a positive impact on our community and influencing change within our district" reads like something inspirational on paper, but members will tell you it plays out in real life, meeting after meeting, project after project.

The club's relationship with its parent body, the Rotary Club of Central Port of Spain, has also been a source of real strength. The Rotary club has been intentional about supporting its Rotaractors, offering professional development training regularly and providing career advice to younger members-  the kind of mentorship that money cannot buy and that has helped shape some genuinely impressive alumni.

On the community front, the club has shown up consistently. From health initiatives to youth engagement programmes, the fingerprints of Central POS Rotaractors can be found across Port of Spain and Trinidad and Tobago as a nation. We have worked alongside their Rotary counterparts on projects that touch real lives, and we have brought our own energy and creativity to the table each time. Pivotal projects and initiatives like the Professional Link-Up Series - addressing career navigation in a dynamic world - are a perfect example of a club that evolves with the times without losing sight of its core values.

There is also something deeply personal about being part of this club. The fellowship is real. The friendships formed inside Central POS have outlasted membership years, crossed borders, and turned colleagues into family. That is not something every club can claim, and it is not something that happens by accident. It happens because the people who show up choose to invest in each other, not just in projects.

With Okera Duncan currently serving as president, the club is in capable hands, and the next chapter is already being written. The legacy built over twenty years of service, of leadership, of genuine community impact within District 7030 is both a foundation and a challenge. A challenge to keep exceeding expectations.
