When Honorary Rotarian Terrence Lewis, or "Terry" as he is known to Club members,  joined the Rotary Club of Central Port of Spain (RCCPOS) in 2001, “or thereabouts", as he modestly recalls, it was a decision guided by instinct and curiosity.

Faced with a choice between service organisations, Terry was drawn to RCCPOS for what he perceived as its strong, business-oriented approach. What began as a simple choice soon evolved into a deeply meaningful journey of service, leadership, and enduring fellowship.

Over the years, his commitment to the Club was evident in the many roles he undertook. Terry served diligently as Treasurer, contributed to leadership as Vice-President, and was preparing to take on the role of President-elect. Each position reflected not only his capability, but also his willingness to give of himself for the growth and success of the Club.

However, Terry's path was not without challenge. During his year as President-elect, he experienced a stroke- an unexpected and life-altering moment that interrupted his leadership trajectory. Yet, even in the face of such adversity, his connection to RCCPOS remained steadfast, underscoring the depth of his bond with the organisation.

When asked to reflect on his most memorable experiences, he does not point to a single project or achievement, but rather to something far more profound, the camaraderie of RCCPOS. It is this spirit of genuine connection, mutual respect, and shared purpose that has left the most lasting impression on his heart.

His advice to prospective members is both simple and powerful: “Don’t prejudice. Join with an open mind and be your natural self.” It is a philosophy that speaks to the inclusive and welcoming nature of Rotary, and one that has clearly shaped his own experience within the Club.

Today, as an honorary member, his story stands as a testament to the enduring values of Rotary- service, fellowship, and resilience. His journey reminds us that while titles and roles may define moments in time, it is the relationships we build and the spirit we bring that truly define our legacy.
